Freezer full of milk!

Ok, freezer has 17-18 gallons of milk. 15 from the $1 sale at aldi's. The others are left overs from other sales/clearance. But I have Zero room in the freezer. Everything fit back in, but I did have to use a case of water bottles to hold the lid shut!

Maybe this coming week I will do a shop at Home & no grocery stores......

Cold summer = not so good Garden!

Last year, I had 100 jalapenos. This year I have had 2. And only about 4 little tomatoes! All the work and waiting.....

I am hopeful it will warm up at least 3-4 days to get the 'maters at least red, because there are tons of green ones. We do have quite a bit of yellow/green squash so that is good.

Mom made us black & red raspberry freezer jelly. I froze about 25-27 pounds of Blueberries too!

I guess I will just end up at the farmers market more...but they seem to be pricey this year. Or I am too cheap. Can't win either way!

Learned this one, from ?, online last year & it really works!

The foaming hand soap bottles that we use in the bathroom and kitchen once the initial soap is gone....
I add about 1/4 bottle of hand soap, any kind I happen to have.
Then add water to fill, I like warm water to kinda mix it.
Lastly, use as normal! Foams up nicely & doesn't seem like I am being cheap to anyone who may come over & use it!

Dawn direct foam .50 cpns 2 or 3 of them. (I still have my 1.50 cpns from the home mailer, but I didn't want the cashier to only use .50 of that 1.50 cpn)

For some this probably could have been cheaper, but lately I haven't been able to find softner less than like 4.oo, 3.00 if I have a cpn. Plus my oldest is leaving for MSU in a few weeks,(sniff sniff) and will need some of the stockpile!

Good Ideas on Freezing....

This past summer I had a small Garden. I planted tomatoes, jalapenos, green peppers, and a few other ramdon things. When the tomatoes ripened it seemed like 50 would be ready at the same time. So between working Fulltime, 3 kids, housework, and everything else in between, I ended up freezing the tomatoes whole. I did grind up some quart size freezer bags too. I also froze about 200 jalapenos! So, on a blog (sorry can't remember or find it now, guessing probably Erin's~) sh said to get the skin off the tomato, run it under warm water and the skin will rub right off! IT DID! So, next year I am freezing all tomatoes whole (to be used in Spagetti & Salsa) and not even bothering to grind it up until I am ready to use it!
Another thing, I found helpful is to chop up onions & green peppers & freeze them in smaller amounts, so all winter I have been using fresh O & P in my recipes! Most GP came from my garden, but some and all the O came from our local farmers market. Plus this way I know where it came from~me or My Local Growers! I love the farmers market. They are so resonable, if you shop down the whole set up & then decide who is better priced! But I have my favorites.!
